The fabrication of Chivas Regal 18 begins with the careful selection of the grains, primarily barley, which is malted and then mashed. The malt is fermented with yeast, resulting in the production of alcohol. Following fermentation, the liquid is distilled in traditional pot stills, where the wash is heated, and the alcohol vapor separates from the mash. Once distilled, the spirit is matured in an array of casks, including American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, which contribute distinct flavors to the final product. The aging process lasts a minimum of 18 years, during which the whisky develops its character and complexities through interaction with the wood and the environment. After aging, the whisky is carefully blended by the master blender, who selects the finest single malt and grain whiskies to achieve a harmonious balance that is both consistent with the Chivas Regal brand and reflective of traditional Scottish craftsmanship.
