The fabrication process of Campbeltown Loch begins with malting barley sourced locally. The barley is soaked in water, allowed to germinate, and then dried using warm air, which preserves the unique characteristics of the grain. After malting, the barley is mashed and mixed with warm water, allowing the natural enzymes to convert the starch into fermentable sugars. The resulting wort is then cooled and yeast is added to initiate fermentation, where the sugars are converted into alcohol. The fermented wash undergoes double distillation in traditional copper pot stills, where the heart of the whisky is carefully selected to be aged. The spirit is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, a practice that imparts distinct flavors derived from previous contents of the barrels. Once matured to perfection, the different malt components are vatted together and bottled at a strength of 46% ABV, allowing the final expression to reflect the depth and character of its Campbeltown roots.
