The roots of Bushmills can be traced back to 1608 when King James I granted Sir Thomas Phillips the license to distill in the village of Bushmills, making it the oldest licensed distillery in the world. Bushmills whiskey production had to adapt through the years, particularly during periods of prohibition and stringent regulations on alcohol production. Fabrication Process

The production of Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey begins with a meticulous selection of ingredients, primarily focusing on high-quality malted barley and an unidentified lighter grain. Fermentation follows, converting sugars into alcohol with the help of yeast, which is a critical step in developing flavor. The liquid is then distilled three times in copper pot stills, which enhances purity and character. After distillation, the whiskey is placed in a combination of seasoned Kentucky bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, where it matures for a minimum of three years.
