Sipsmith was founded by Sam Galsworthy, Fairfax Hall, and Jared Brown in 2009. The driving force behind its inception was a shared passion for gin and a desire to revive the art of small-batch gin distillation in London, where such practices had dwindled significantly over the centuries. The founders aimed to create a distillery that embodied both tradition and innovation, reclaiming the city’s gin heritage while producing premium spirits. Their first gin, Sipsmith London Dry Gin, quickly gained traction and excited the palates of gin drinkers across the nation. A major milestone for Sipsmith was the acquisition of its first copper pot still, affectionately named “Prudence,” which was modeled after traditional stills used for gin production. This landmark moment marked Sipsmith's official entrance into the distillation world. The distillery's growth continued as it garnered acclaim and a loyal customer base, propelling it onto the global stage. In 2016, Sipsmith became part of the Suntory Global Spirits family, which further amplified its reach and resources without compromising its founding ideals. Over the years, Sipsmith has continuously evolved its product line. The introduction of the Origin 1639 marked a turning point, showcasing the distillery's dedication to its heritage. This gin recreates the first known gin recipe and has been very well received. The distillery has also expanded its offerings to include unique limited-edition releases and collaborations, maintaining a sense of excitement and innovation within its portfolio, even amidst a growing market for flavored and non-traditional gins.
