Echlinville Distillery was established in 2013, marking a monumental revival in Northern Ireland’s distilling history as the first licensed distillery in over 125 years. The founders, Shane Braniff and his family, saw an opportunity to marry local agriculture with artisanal distillation in a region rich with both history and natural resources. The decision to establish the distillery was fueled by a passion for reviving traditional whiskey-making techniques and embracing the local terroir that Northern Ireland offers. Since its inception, Echlinville has celebrated numerous milestones, including launching its flagship spirit, Dunville's Irish Whiskey, which has helped re-establish a storied brand that dates back to the 1800s. Over the years, the distillery has expanded its offerings to include different expressions of whiskey, craft gin, and poitín, and has continuously innovated, including the recent introduction of The Aird Cask Collective for whiskey cask investment. Moreover, Echlinville Distillery has invested significantly in its infrastructure, including a planned £5 million for the restoration of a former maltings facility dedicated to producing local barley.
