Aberlour Distillery

Aberlour was established in 1879 by James Fleming, who aimed to create a distillery that emphasized quality and authenticity. Choosing the site at St. Drostan's Well ensured an abundance of pure spring water, vital for producing fine whisky. The distillery quickly gained a reputation for its rich and flavorful malts, pioneering double cask maturation techniques which would become a hallmark of Aberlour’s character. Over the years, Aberlour has experienced significant milestones, including expansion efforts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, allowing it to increase production capacity and refine its whisky-making processes. The distillery was acquired by Pernod Ricard in 1974, which enabled it to further enhance its international profile and market reach.
